We are pleased to share with you the first edition of the Community Restorative Practice Project for Sexual Harm Newsletter. This pilot initiative, funded by the Hunter New England Primary Health Network, is led by Transforming Justice Australia, a community-based restorative justice organisation working across many Aboriginal lands.
The project began in July 2025 and is now taking its first steps toward building stronger, safer, and more connected communities across the Central Coast, Hunter, and New England regions. Our team of experienced facilitators are dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and communities impacted by sexual harm, whether as survivors, as those responsible for harm, or as loved ones navigating the ripple effects.
At the heart of this work is a commitment to listening. We are here to understand the needs and strengths of each community and to co-design restorative responses that honour dignity, respect, and safety. Upcoming opportunities include the establishment of a community steering committee, the launch of a Solidarity Circle for survivors in October 2025, and the REVIVE program in November 2025, designed to support accountability and change for those who have caused harm and their families.
This newsletter shares updates, explains what community restorative practices involve, and outlines how you can participate. We invite you to read, reflect, and connect with us as we continue learning together.
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to building this important journey with you.
