Fiona shared key experiences in her career as a mother, a teacher and a principal. She tells personal stories to demonstrate how to deal with the most demanding aspects of restorative practice is a way of being not a set of techniques.
She explains how Socratic Questioning is key to empowering children to learn to think and feel and have agency in being responsible for their own learning.
Group members share how Fiona’s story impacted them and asked questions to deepen their insights. Questions are raised about how we deal with systemic shortcomings when power is misused punitively and restorative practice is not used or considered.
Fiona also demonstrates with children how listening to conflict can be attractive, positive and healthy rather than avoided.
