About the Practitioner

Motivation:

Kate has always been looking for ways to respond to conflict other than those she has learned and her culture  which often lead to war, violence and separation.

Restorative Practice and Nonviolence makes sense to her. It is more about how our TRUE compassionate nature operates. It leads to peace, understanding and connection. Restorative Practice is an ongoing invitation into relationship - an understanding how rites and responsibilities go hand in hand.

As a Certified Trainer with the Centre for Nonviolent Communication and a Mediator Accredited under the National Australian Mediator Accreditation System, Kate is informed by her experience of living, working and playing in Community. She is also a Team Animator with Play in the Wild! Initiations into Nonviolence for young people, educators and families.

Kate is passionate about the development and maintenance of the essential, critical structures + practises that ensure health + wellbeing of communities, families, couples and groups. These include developing Conflict Response Systems, Decision Making Processes, Feedback Systems, Vision, Values, Goals Identity, Governance, Individual and Group Wellbeing.

Brings to the Discussion:

Kate has significant experience in working with people of all ages in many settings. This includes camps and wilderness trips as well as being a convenor for youth justice conferences. Kate has worked extensively with a wide range of community groups, including activist organisations, to assist in developing appropriate conflict response systems. Kate often incorporates creativity and art into the work she undertakes.

Additional Information:

Kate is passionate about finding new ways to approach the conflicts and challenges our society is increasingly facing, including diminished natural resources.

Restorative Practice is essential if we are to harness the power we have in communities so that we are not reliant on the systems of the 'Government of the Day'.
